The Columbia River redband trout (O.m. gairdneri) is one of three redband trout subspecies of rainbow trout. They are native to the Columbia River drainage in Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Columbia River redband trout are also known as inland redband trout and interior redband trout.
The Columbia River redband trout can be found in lake and stream form as well as see-run (anadromous) form. Sea-run redband trout are commonly referred to as redband steelhead or simply as steelhead. Note that the term sea-run coastal rainbow trout are also commonly referred to as steelhead.
