Trout Adventures is a volunteer-led conservation education organization serving rural communities in Nevada’s Western Region. Our programs are made possible by individuals who give their time, experience, and skills to support conservation education and stewardship.
We welcome people who care about wildlife, education, and community-based conservation and who want to contribute in a thoughtful and meaningful way.
There are several ways to get involved, depending on your interests, experience, and availability.
Program volunteers work directly with students and youth in classroom and community settings. They support programs such as:
These volunteers assist with classroom visits, release-day activities, and educational events. They help bring conservation education to life for students in rural communities.
Because these roles involve working with students, program volunteers must become certified NDOW Volunteer Outdoor Education Instructors. Certification includes training and background checks conducted through the Nevada Department of Wildlife and typically takes approximately 6–8 weeks to complete.
We begin engaging interested volunteers right away. During the certification period, individuals may assist with program preparation, logistics, or operational activities and become familiar with our programs and partners.
Behind-the-scenes volunteers support the organization’s operational and administrative needs. These roles do not require NDOW certification and are well suited for individuals who wish to contribute professional skills in support of our mission. Those who are interested in supporting classroom or youth activities may also pursue NDOW certification.
Examples include:
Graphic design and branding
Website and digital communications
Photography and media documentation
Event logistics and coordination
Current priority need:
Accounting and bookkeeping
Strong skills and reliability are valued, and contributions are aligned with current organizational priorities.
From time to time, we invite experienced individuals to serve as advisors or liaisons. These roles provide strategic guidance, regional insight, or subject-matter expertise in conservation, education, nonprofit governance, or community partnerships.
Advisory roles are developed intentionally and in alignment with organizational needs.
As Trout Adventures grows, volunteers may have opportunities to take on expanded responsibilities in program coordination or leadership. These roles develop through demonstrated commitment, experience, and alignment with the organization’s mission and governance standards.
Board and officer positions are filled through a structured governance process consistent with our bylaws.

Please introduce yourself and share how you would like to contribute. We look forward to connecting with individuals who are eager to help strengthen conservation education in our region.
Volunteers play an important role in connecting students to Nevada’s watersheds, native wildlife, and conservation traditions. We are grateful for those who choose to support this work.
